bringing to an suspecting universe - minimal dirt rock

Welcome.....

Stray Dog Cafe hail from Wigan in the Northwest of England. Described by Joe of Part Chimp and Kling Klang as 'a proper bunch of northern wierdos', Stray Dog Cafe's unique approach to noise making (aka 'Minimal Dirt Rock') has had live audiences entertained and bewildered in equal measure.

Likened to bands as diverse as McCluskey, Shellac, The Fall, Country Teasers and Trumans Water, the Minimal Dirt Rock Manifesto continues to develop and expand:

Minimal (less = more) Dirt (raw = better) Rock (= designed to wow).

Organ Magazine

STRAY DOG CAFE – The Experiment Requires You To Continue – edge cutting toe cutters and a whole album's worth of Northern English sounding things to say and angular pointy paranoia and catch twenty two situations. Wired and stringy and angular and awkward in a Fall kind of way, in a Wrong Pop Herzoga kind of way. "Florida man shot by puppy" shouts the voice, lots of shouting about all kinds of things, literate bites of something, positive bass line repetition and a very solid sound.

Indie MP3 review of the Album - Highly Recommended

The LP has hard and fast rhythms that are often coupled with crunchy guitars but the band also lend their songs a slower slant - 'Gridlock Gridlock' is one of those songs and a lot of the songs here come with almost spoken word verses - before guitars and singing return.
